Dear Mr. Lee:

I am pleased to inform you that we will be able to offer you a research assistantship as part of your admission to the University of Florida’s medical physics program. We will ask that you participate in grant-related research in the dosimetry of pediatric radiological examinations funded by the U.S. National Institutes of Health. In this project we are developing tomographic compuational models of newborn patients for simulations of fluoroscopic and CT exams. In addition, we are constructing tissue equivalent phantoms, both based on the stylistic and tomographic computational models, for use with MOSFET dosimeters. These phantoms are then used to measure organ doses during these exams. The project necessarily involves image processing, clinical observations of the exams, materials engineering, computational modeling, and radiation measurements.

We will get an official letter to you this week. Congratulations, and we look forward to seeing you in Gainesville, Florida this fall semester.
